No single type of patient or family member is our center focus at Centre Place Dental. Instead, our office is committed to supporting the health and beauty of all sorts of patients’ smiles. When searching for a “family dentist near me in Lincoln, Nebraska,” it is important to identify an office that does not exclusively cater to children. It is also important to determine if they care for children’s needs (as some dentists do not accept young patients). Our dentists, Drs Chris and Robin Post, have the skills and capabilities to provide complete care to all family members. So, it is not unusual to have pediatric patients who effortlessly transition to adult patients without leaving the practice they know and trust. They then go on to have their children visit us, too. So, our dental family is proud to serve many generations of families.

Leading dental organizations like the American Dental Association recommend that the first visit be scheduled for a child’s first birthday. While this may seem super-early, the idea behind such visits is to detect and intervene with problems before they cause damage that could affect your child’s overall development. Additionally, we like to equip parents and caregivers with the tools they need to care for young children’s gums and emerging teeth. Of course, we welcome older children and want to get them on the right and healthy track.
Even if your teeth look and feel fine, you must maintain routine dental checkups. During these visits, Dr. Chris or Dr. Post may find early signs of decay or disease that might have gone ignored or missed. Early dental disease is often not suspected because it produces little to no symptoms. Also, during these appointments, our dental hygienists can remove destructive substances that cannot simply be brushed or flossed away with standard oral care products. These substances include hardened plaque build-up or tartar.
Regular checkups are great opportunities to fill our team in about any changes to your overall health that could affect your oral health. As you age, you may acquire diseases that have big implications for the health and function of your teeth, gums, and mouth. Notably, Type 2 diabetes can affect wound healing and make you more vulnerable to oral infections. Also, gum disease and other oral conditions can negatively impact managing disease disease, negatively impacting ahead of any damage or the progression of the the disease. Interventions range from introducing medical-grade antibiotics to dental and periodontal therapies, such as fillings, crowns, and laser-assisted gum disease treatment.
