Your comfort and safety are truly front and center at Centre Place Dental. Our kind, non-judgmental, and sunny approach to care supports a pleasant experience and trust. However, our dentists, Drs. Chris and Robin Post have also invested in “helpers” to complement this highly personalized, truly caring approach to dentistry.
Our team in Lincoln, Nebraska, has helped many patients overcome their nervousness about dental visits. We appreciate that dental fear and anxiety are common, and we empathize with those patients who turn to us. In some cases, it has been years since they last saw the dentist. The extreme fear kept them away. Inevitably, without proper routine care, debilitating damage develops. Many end up suffering needlessly from pain, a broken smile, and poor chewing and speech function.
Since dental fear is often rooted in negative or childhood dental experiences, as well as conventional “triggers,” we take our commitment to care very seriously. We strive to get patients comfortable with dentistry early on and are proud to acquaint them with modern dental techniques and technologies. Our use of technologies like laser dentistry has eliminated or minimized many of the sounds, sights, smells, and sensations that can trigger dental apprehension.
Sedation dentistry refers to the use of relaxing medications for all sorts of procedures and services at the dentist’s office. At Centre Place Dental, we use “nitrous oxide.” This relaxing option may be appropriate for individuals with mild to moderate dental anxiety and fear. It is also appropriate for those individuals who are undergoing complex or lengthy treatments or who have a bad gag reflex and other challenges that could interfere with their treatment and negatively affect their experience. It is so safe that patients of all ages have benefited from this method for decades.
The addition of nitrous oxide is straightforward; patients simply wear a small nasal mask and inhale the nitrogen and oxygen. The effects are induced quickly and wear off just as fast. So, there is no lingering drowsiness of the kind that might be associated with deeper levels of sedation. Nitrous oxide is sometimes referred to as “laughing gas” because it induces a state of well-being. All of your cares and concerns float away. A less nervous and less tense patient also helps support our ability to care for you efficiently. That way, you can spend less time in treatment and more time enjoying your new smile.
If you are overdue for a checkup or are holding on to painful, broken teeth, we want to hear from you. Let’s reacquaint you with today’s dentistry and earn your trust. Call (402) 438-5000 to speak with a member of our team in Lincoln, NE, today.
