At Centre Place Dental of Lincoln, Nebraska, patients have the chance to learn about various ways to replace missing teeth in their smiles. This includes the use of hybrid prosthetics like hybrid implant dentures. If you are faced with significant tooth loss or removal and are interested in learning more about your replacement options, we invite you to talk to Drs. Chris and Robin Post about the many advantages of the hybrid implant denture.
Hybrid implant dentures are a type of dental prosthesis that combines the stability and durability of dental implants with the aesthetic appeal and functionality of traditional dentures. They typically consist of a metal framework attached to several dental implants, which serve as the foundation for the replacement teeth. This advanced dental solution is designed for patients who have experienced significant tooth loss or removal and offers a secure, stable alternative to traditional dentures.
Traditional dentures typically are created to rely on the natural suction or adhesive to remain in place, making them less secure and stable compared to hybrid implant dentures. Hybrid implant dentures distribute chewing forces more evenly than conventional dentures, reducing stress on the gums and jawbone and improving the ability to chew and speak comfortably.
Hybrid implant dentures might be recommended for patients who have lost most or all of their natural teeth in the dental arch. While full or “complete” dentures are an option, dental implants can offer added stability and improved chewing ability. Patients should have healthy gums and adequate jawbone structure to support the dental implants in order to be considered appropriate candidates for this or other implant-related procedures.
Getting hybrid implant dentures usually involves several steps and appointments with your dentists at Centre Place Dental. This may include a thorough examination of your mouth, including x-rays and impressions, to determine the condition of your natural jawbone and overall oral health. If deemed a good candidate, the dental implants are surgically placed in the jawbone during oral surgery and given time to heal and fuse with the bone. Once healed, the metal framework is attached, and customized replacement teeth are secured on top.
