Protecting your teeth and gums from damage just makes sense! You can avoid the pain and other symptoms that interfere with your life and are associated with cavities, decay, gum disease, and other oral conditions. You can also avoid treatments that may be costly, time-consuming, and invasive. Plus, with Centre Place Dental on your side, it’s never been easier to prevent dental disease and to keep your teeth and gums looking and feeling great and functioning as they should be.
Preventative dental care at our office in Lincoln, Nebraska, is not any one “silver bullet” service, technique, or product. It largely involves regular visits or checkups. During these visits, one of our dentists, Drs. Chris or Robin Post will take a peek inside of your mouth. They will examine the condition of your teeth, gums, jaw joints, and other oral tissues. They can also perform a screening for pre-cancers, cancers, or other anomalies that might require prompt attention. These exams are followed with a professional cleaning by one of our hygienists. They use their special tools and training to gently yet thoroughly remove surface stains, as well as disease-causing bacteria and plaque build-up. Once plaque hardens, it cannot be removed with regular brushing and flossing.
While there are general expectations for the regular checkup, every such visit is a little different. We tailor care to our patient’s unique needs and goals and identify risk factors for things like gum disease. For instance, if you smoke or chew tobacco, you will want to schedule more frequent exams. It’s important for us to stay on top of any unexplainable or persistent lumps, bumps, or other changes that could be indicative of oral cancers. As needed, we can also incorporate additional professional preventive services into your usual checkup. These services include the application of supplemental fluoride to build up weak teeth and the placement of protective sealants to prevent cavities in decay-prone back teeth.
Dr. Chris and Dr. Robin have also invested in a range of diagnostic technologies. These technologies use very low-dose radiation to capture clear images of even the most minute or difficult-to-see areas of the mouth. They can serve as our team’s “eyes” to aid in detecting what might otherwise go missed or ignored. We must understand the nature of any concerns you may have and what is causing them, as only then can we make appropriate recommendations for hygiene and treatment (as needed). These technologies complement our team by aiding in our ability to make a proper and prompt diagnosis.
Of course, there is no substitute for top talent. Our team is standing by to hear from you and looks forward to providing guidance and even demonstrating things like helpful techniques to better clean hard-to-reach teeth. If it’s been longer than six months since your last dental visit, or you are concerned about a tooth or another part of your mouth, do not hesitate to reach out to Centre Place Dental in Lincoln, NE.
